bad seal replacement

what started out as a bad seal replacement ended up being a lot more.

to start with here is my fall work space lol

took off the left wheel and removed the seal only to find that the bearing was totally shot as well .

pulled off the outside bearing holder from the reverse box

took this shot before I removed the plate
...not even any bearings left in there.
inner seal is still good but need to remove the race from the outer one without damaging the inner seal

was glad I had the big tarp to put up just before it really started to rain.

That sucks. I should pull mine apart soon to see how the bearing is. I haven't repacked it in a few years.

the outside one was still good when I replaced the inner one (should have done both at same time) and that mistake has come back to nip me in the heal

this is a fairly quick fix once I have the parts in my grimy hands

Glad to hear that. How much did bearings cost you?

I saw a guy who looked just like you at Precise last week.
