Hello from Idaho
Hi Chinariders,
Just got my first motorcycle a few weeks ago. I believe its a Zongshen 200GS but there isn't any labeling on the bike other than a made in china sticker. I got the bike for 850 but the local shop said the reason it was so cheap is because parts are almost impossible to come by. Any truth to this? It rides well enough so far and gets me from home to work just fine. Any long term issues I should be aware of? |

Man did you luck out. You are SO in the right place.
You stole the bike, and one of our members, Spudrider (obviously also in ID) is a parts dealer. He has 35,000 wonderful miles on his Zong. You have one of the best bikes of it's type, regardless of country of manufacture.

Yes it is most definitely a street bike. I have a gravel drive way and it has a hard time getting going. Once I hit pavement however the thing is so smooth I love it. It looks almost like a Kawasaki ninja, I've gotten a few compliments on it so far but it has no brand name on it anywhere.

Welcome to these forums; we are glad you joined us!
Does your motorcycle look like this one? If so, you do indeed have a Zongshen 200GS. I don't know of any problem areas with these bikes. I do know Zongshen manufactures excellent engines; I have ridden almost 38,000 miles on my Zongshen 200GY-2, dual sport motorcycle. You can obtain parts from Zongshen America, at very reasonable prices, but you need to be patient. The wheels sometimes grind slowly at Zongshen America. Spud

Welcome! If your bike looks like the pic that Spud found, it would appear that your engine is based upon Honda design. Lots of parts will be available.
Glad you found us!

Yeah that is exactly what it looks like down to the color scheme. But there isn't Zongshen written anywhere. I guess they omitted that part of their design in 2005.
It is most definitely exciting about the parts though. I'm can be pretty patient we do have a car to supplement our commuting but hopefully nothing goes awry before snowfall. Thanks for the welcome! |

That's a good looking bike, and I have only heard good things about it. Congratulations on getting the good price! May I ask where you bought your bike? If you have time, please do start a thread, and post some photos of your bike in our Street Forum; we love photos!
Your motorcycle is very popular in the Phillipines, where it is called the Z200.
