Should be getting my 2018 Bashan Storm 250 Tues/Weds so I can be in the cool club. Im a little disappointed, when I found this site I assumed it was Asian porn.... lol jk jk

Anyone have any tips or advice for the break in period? Also anyone have a copy of the manual they can post or link?

Hi turbo, welcome aboard and congrats. There is many tips on setup here, and I am sure there is some advice on break-in. culcune lives in Yuma, and can give you some advice as well. There are others here, from AZ, that can give some advice. Sounds as if you purchased from a dealer? The oil will need to be changed, either at the first start up or in a few miles. I personally looked at the Storm, for the mrs., as there was a small dealer in Salt Lake City. However, they didn't do the oil change and valve adjustment, just assemble the bike, and get it out the door. chiptoothy, on this site, gave me some good advice on the Storm as he has one. megadan is also the bike master and has tons of posts. Keep us posted and send us a pix!

Hello wedooit!! Thank you for the heads up! Yes, I am purchasing from a dealer here in Mesa AZ. They recommend running the oil for the first 500 miles, they said its oil that helps with the break in process. I will ask them if they have already changed the oil or if it is the original oil from China and will definitely change it out if its the oil from China. I actually looked at it yesterday and should have bought it but it was $1799 ($2100 OTD) and they would not budge on the price AT ALL. So I looked around after leaving and almost pulled the trigger on a Honda CB300R since it was only $3999 but they ended up not coming off the price either and had insane dealer fees, I think it came out to around $5800 OTD LMAO.

I know I prob should order online and put it together myself to save money but Im an instant gratification guy and need it NOW lol. Happy to be apart of this site and cant wait to be active on this site! I will get some pictures up as soon as I get it!

Welcome to the forum. There's a lot of info floating around on here, and you'll find everyone has their own way of setting up/breaking in a bike. When I got my Hawk, I assembled it over a couple of hours, and then road it up and down the street once on the oil that came in the engine. Seriously, just up and down the street (about 0.4 miles total) once to get the oil moving so it would wash all the machined surfaces down and kinda warm it up. Then I dumped the shipping oil out and filled it with some Phillips Aviation 20W50 airplane engine oil. I like that stuff because it has a ton of zinc in it. No issues with the clutch using it, either. Other than that, we always like to see pictures! Look me up when you're out riding and we can try to get together for a ride or some lunch or something.

Sounds good Emerikol! So it sounds like I shouldnt ride the bike home from the dealership lol. I have a jeep but no one will rent even a small utility trailer to me for some reason. I will probably rent a uhaul truck and trailer I guess. Thanks for the heads up on the oil and I will definitely get some pictures up as soon as I get it home!

I would ride it home only as a last resort, and as slowly and carefully as humanly possible (without getting run over; I don't know if you've noticed or not, but the drivers out here are batshit crazy! ). From the factory, the gearing is really short. It probably won't go any faster than about 50mph, but it will do that straight up! Start making a list of the things you'll need to take care of before it can be considered a halfway decent daily commuter bike. Front and rear sprockets, as well as a new o-ring chain should be right up at the top of your list. Then a new exhaust and either a carb kit, or a whole new carb. I would also plan to do some work on the forks. Everything I've seen so far from people who have been into them is that the oil came out of a fish processing plant, and it needs to be replaced with a high-quality oil pronto. I haven't been into mine yet, but it's on the list. If I still had my small trailer, you'd be more than welcome to come over and pick it up and use it to get the bike home. But I sold it back in Georgia before I came out to the end of the country. In any event, can't wait to see the pictures of the new bike!

If you're renting a truck why would you need a trailer? Just have a couple of buddies help you get it out the truck when you get home or borrow a ramp from someone. You could rent a small moving van that usually comes with a ramp. I think the 10' vans are the same price as the truck.

Read through the sticky at the top of the Dual Sport Section. Most of this information will carry over to the Storm too.

Congrats on the bike! Did you buy it from Advanti? They carry Chinese bikes, and have been around a few years, so must be doing something right. They might be right on the break-in oil. We here on Chinariders have been saying since 2006 or so to change out the oil right away. However, the Storm is made by Bashan, and there is another Bashan bike, the Brozz, sold via Peace Sports. Jeff, the rep of Peace who is an active member here, has suggested the same break-in process of running the break-in oil for the Brozz. Same engine. It might be just a Bashan 'thing'? My only compromise with break-in oil is instead of draining it before the very first start-up is to run the bike for several minutes to get the oil warm so it flows out better and more of it gets drained.

Please post a photo of the bike! I am not good myself at posting a lot of photos, but people here do insist on it. I am curious if you have the updated Storm graphics like I saw offered on one of the mail-order sites.

JerryHawk250, yea I prob should but Ill be doing it all by myself and the trailer is just easier to do it by myself. I could wait till a friend is free to help but Im an instant gratification guy, thats why I decided not to order one lol.

culcune, Thank you! Yes, I am getting it from Advanti. Thats what I figured about the timeline on the break in oil, I will try to get some more information from them when I go pick it up today, but will most likely just find a high zinc dino oil to change it out with pretty much right off the bat. And good idea on changing it warm!

Photos incoming in a few hours!

turbo....just like xmas!!!! remember when you were kid....xmas time....cant wait? I wonder if that is where we get the instant gratification from? I am same way, but on the china syndrome, I was so leery of this website, and leery of the product, I researched it for months. There are so many great people here, with a diverse background, and experience, that it is incredible. AND the kindness these people have. Probably one of the best sites!

anyways.....CONGRATS!!!!

When you put some miles on it, give us a personal review! Like culcune above, my pix taking is limited as my phone camera lens gets scratched....
