Lunch Ride

Mrs. C and I took a lunch ride on the Maggot to the Chick-N-Dip in Hampshire, IL today. Only one pic, because I forgot to plug in my phone last night.

Beautiful day for a ride. About 60 miles round trip.

Lemee tell y'all about the Chick-N-Dip (this is mostly for the youngsters). Every small town in the US and Canada used to have a Mom and Pop kind of place that you walked up to a window to order and paid cash for your meal.

That's the Chick-N-Dip. Burgers, Broasted chicken, fish, ice cream, fries, shakes, malteds; foods that aren't that great for you but better than the typical McWendy's King.

I'm not a big fan of chicken, I had it three times a week as a kid, but I will go out of my way to get chicken at this place.

In my city we have several restaurants like your Chick 'N Dip.

The farther you get from the Chicago area, the more prevalent these little places are. There is another place in Huntley, IL called Dairy Mart. McDonalds opened a joint across the street but has yet to put a dent in their business.
