Well, the KZ is gone.
Traded it for a $1,000 aviation GPS that I really needed .
Not including tax and license I had less than $550 in the KZ plus a bunch of hours of mostly good times fixing it up. I rode it 750 miles in about 3 weeks and relived a lot of great motorcycle memories from college. It's now off to a good home, and I got a cool in panel airplane GPS . It has a moving map, XM weather, terrain avoidance, battery backup, build in MP3 and satellite radio 8) . I'm a happy camper! :P

You could make some decent coin on that Z1. They have a cult-like following.

It was a 75 model I believe. It now lives on in about 4 countries. Allen

I saw the Kawasaki today. It's unrestorable, even at a price of 'free'. Oh well. :?

Congratulations on the new GPS receiver, Doc. However, I will miss seeing photos of the KZ; it brought back good memories.

I installed the GPS over the last couple days. Not rocket science but a major PIA. Obviously, it has to be right and not interfere with anything anywhere on the plane. 8O
I test flew it and it works great. Going to Sandpoint, Idaho with my lady friend this weekend and looking forward to it a lot. The GPS has color moving map, terrain avoidance (It speaks trough the headsets, 'Terrain. Pull up Pull up!", XM satellite weather overlay, winds aloft, notices to airmen, data for everything everywhere, XM radio (tunes, weather, talk, comedy, sports and all that), and too many other features to review. Sorry you missed out on riding the KZ Spud. I'll post some GPS pics if you like from my flight to the norther Idaho panhandle today if you like. Also bear in mind there is ALWAYS another project brewing. There's a 1978 Honda 750 SuperSport for sale on CL for $500. Might take a look at that if its still around next week. Or I might do an old Harley Sportster. Something different, and easier.

That sounds like and awesome GPS! It's truly remarkable how far that technology has come in so short of a time. I can't wait to see what your next project will be either!

I'm in Northern Idaho, just south of our Canadian friends today. I've taken some pics but it's been hazy and cold and windy so they are not postcards, but after I get home I'll post a few to share with you all.
