A blast from Kato's past :-)
I was researching trying to find out my HSUN's fuel tank capacity and came across this old thread in an MPG forum.
It's a good thread, and these guys show a good understanding of Chinese bikes. Kato even chimed in! http://www.gassavers.org/f64/2007-li...view-4620.html By the way does anyone know the gas tank capacity of these bikes? At what point do they go onto reserve? The reason I ask is I would guess them to get at least 70 MPG, if not much more. I would guess the tank to have a 2.5-3 gallon capacity, ant I had to switch to reserve at about 75 miles... weird.

If I remember correctly I would get about 2 gallons in. My reserve let me go about a half mile.
That has been awhile back.

So your bike had a 2 gallon 'main' and a negligable reserve?
Mine seems to be about 1 gallon for each. Odd but I can work with it. It's been so long since I had one of these and I don't remember.

I think it may have been a touch more than 2 gallons. The reserve straw was really short. Pretty common on the GYs at the time. I just filled up at the 100 mile mark.

Welangrind's Lifan seems to have a much larger fuel tank than the HSUN bikes.

I don't know what my fuel capacity really is. I do know that it switches over to reserve at around 75 miles or so, but I have seen motorcycles where the reserve tank is about the same size as the main tank. It is easy to imagine how they used petcock's off-the-shelf, rather than sized correctly for the tank.
I am a little disappointed in the fuel mileage however. I have bowling gone through about three tanks since I have had the little bike, and the most recent tank I got was 64 miles to the gallon, which seems to be about what it gets. I thought it would get more, especially since it's service is easy stuff, around town, commuting. I really like it as a commuter. I find that it Eliminates my frustration if I am behind cars, or in "traffic ". I put the word traffic", because in reality, there is no such thing out here LOL! Even so, if I am on the Ducati or the gold wing, I just want to let it rip, and I get frustrated that there is always something in my way. On the little bike, it's all good, I'm happy.
