Help me choose a carb for 200cc pushrod.

Hi, I have many problems tuning the carb this year.
Hard starts, poor power, hesitations and dead spots and poor response to adjusting. Pilot is at 3-1/2turn from seated....
Anyway, I would like to get a new carb, and I need help choosing exactly wich carb to buy.
Bike is Zongshen ZS200GY-A, 2004., 200cc push rod, with new cylinder, piston and crankshaft, breaken in; exhaust header is stock, but with grinded welds at the start of the pipe, done de-cat, and rear mufler is almost empty. Head is ported, exhaust port is ported good while intake only a little ported. Air filter is stock. 17-46 sprockets.

If you recommend me a carb, please consider this: This engine "does not have" top end RPM. Because it is very loud, noisy at high rpm, and i simply do not drive it in high rpm range. This is maybe because of pushrod design, maybe from worn springs in the head, and maybe I do not know at what RPM am I driving the bike, so I mihgt overreving it?! I drive it in low and mid RPM range and I love the low-end grunt (whivh bhis bike also doesn't have ). Aside from this, i like to have more power from the bike, but not at the 7000RPM, but as low as possible, which I really like in my trips around the countryside, narute, mountains, trails.... I also love the fuel consumption of this bike, which is always below 3l/100km, and sometimes close to 2.5l/100km and I wouldnt like this value to go up alot.

Also, I hate the mixture screw at the bottom and close to hot exhaust on my PD1 and PD10 carbs.
Thanks!

You are overthinking it.

My recommendation would be a PZ30 pumper carb. Otherwise a 28mm smooth bore.

PZ27 pumper exists too
These motirs won’t rev much beyond 7000rpm

Maybe over haul this carb and buy the tool to adj the air screw

Would PE28 be considered smooth bore? I like it because of no valve for the choke and mixture on the side.

Theres a PE28 that’s a direct replacement for PZ style
No choke butterfly to get in the way and choke enrichment instead

Hey Kivi... I am with MegaDan on this... I have a Roketa 200cc and I have the PZ30 carb on it.... this carb has adjustments idle on the side and also the fuel and air adjuster on the other side. It also has the choke lever on the left side... I have plenty of power using this setup along with low rpm range... I don't worry about higher rpm's because I use it off road and I am not going to be going 60 mph through the woods...

My thoughts

Looks like a good carb. I would be tempted to try 2 or 3 units and both kinds of jets, genuine Keihin of course, and see if they sell. Big step up from the usual after market carbs....ARH

I run the standard Mikuni VM26, who many say isn't a real Mikuni. Either way, they perform flawlessly on my bikes, are cheap, easy to get, and jets are easy to come by.
