Hawk 250 oil leak from silver hole

On my hawk 250 on the left side of the bike there is this weird silver cap looking thing that has two circular holes in in that it looks like u use to unscrew. It's leaking from it. I don't know what it is though.

Which one is leaking? if it's the lower one then remove it and check the oring for damage. Or it may just be lose and needs to be snugged up. If it is the one on the cylinder jug, do not remove it. It is the cam follower shaft and you don't want the cam followers to fall into the crank case.

My hawk has a slot for a flat blade screw driver. Take a picture and post so we can help.

Hey does anybody know where to get the after market digital gauge cluster for the Hawk 250? Also has anybody had an issue with the oil filling up in he air box and causing the bike to run like crap. It just started doing this to me and I only have 300 miles on the bike. Before ran like a champ. I was wondering if I should just do away with the air box and put a aftermarket air intake or put a PCV on it.

The oil is probably blowby, make sure you don't overfill your oil and check your case vent tube PCV valve. the case will pressurize and oil will get past the rings.

this helps explain it.

Quoted from motorcyclecruiser.com :

" If you went through those first few hundred miles without ever holding the throttle open or revving to the power peak—or only did it once or twice—your rings probably never seated".

You need a spanner wrench.

The cap is definitely different than the one on my Hawk's engine...it's slotted the same as the cap above the flywheel on the crank case. Spanner wrench is the way to go.
