Picked Up a New Beast Special Edition Today.

As the tittle says picked up a new Beast Special Edition today. So far everything looks ok with the exception of the plastics. It looks like a beaver chewed off the excess plastic from the molding process and I think some of the fender brackets are out of whack.

Can someone tell me how to adjust the chain on it though, it has the Honda style rear end on it.

Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable than me will chime in, but I'll try to get you started.

The sprocket must have a hole in it, or you can't get it done. The idea is to loosen the axle bolts, insert a tool through the hole (an allen wrench IIRC), and roll the quad backwards.

Thanks I figured it was something like that. I am going to assume rolling it back is to tighten it and rolling it forward will loosen it. Believe it or not it is actually too tight. Had the same issue with the Rebel T1 had to finally loosen it off and that was after putting a bunch hours on it. Figure it will strtch in time but thought it wouldn't take so long. Should consider myself lucky I guess.

Doess your sprocket have the required hole? The early models didn't.

same as mine...i use a 1/4" drive long extension through the sprocket and into the carrier hole....loosen off the 2 long bolts at the rear that keep the carrier in place then in neutral push the atv forward and the chain should tighten.

re torque the two bolts and good to go.

I am looking to swap out the CDI on this thing and want to check and make sure I have the right one.

Are the 200cc cdi boxes ac fired?

For reference are these engines considered GY6 engines?

I am good with the horizontal honda clones but have little to no experience with these.

I have no idea if the CDI is AC.

If you have the 200cc engine, it's a vertical Honda clone of a CG125 pushrod engine that has been poked 'n stroked to 200 cubes. The GY6 is a scooter engine that can be adapted to quads or dune buggies, and they're usually 150cc (although available as 50, 125 and 250 as well). There is a GY6 in my daughter's quad, and it has been a terrific performer for her; no clutch and no gears.

Well my bad. I didn't pull the gas tank and flush it out when I first got it.
I did however replace all the fuel lines and filter before running it. Good thing as now a visual inspection of the filter shows a ton of crap and rust in the filter. Looks like a filter change is in the very near future. I may just shake up the gas tank and drain it while I am at it, perhaps that will remove the bulk of the crud.
