Putting the larger wheels on my x31, any issues?

Hi guys,

looks like some of the x31's come with 19"/16"

http://www.giobikes.com/Dirt-Bikes-i...X31-Dirt-Bike/

but some come with 21"/18"

http://www.giobikes.com/Dirt-Bikes-i...-Dirt-Bike-21/

mine came with the smaller set, can i just toss the bigger ones on there?

What should i expect? New chain etc.? Having to adjust or get new front forks? Any info on this would be great, thanks guys.

I'm not positive but seems to me it would be a simple swap.

The gearing would be different due to the larger rear wheel, but a different sprocket will compensate. You may need a longer chain but no big deal. If there is a speedometer it may read slow.

There may be a difference in swingarm and fork length.

True.

Measure the space between the tire and the swingarm; the 18" wheel will be 1" closer to the swingarm, but you also need to allow for larger knobbies. If you have 2" of space, you're likely in the clear.

Wrap a zip tie around the shock, right at the seal. Climb on the bike, squeeze the front brake hard and compress the front suspension aggressively a few times. Note where the zip tie ended up, and you'll know how much travel you have. The 21" front wheel will be 1" closer to the fender (again, maybe a little more due to larger knobbies), so if you can afford 2", you should be in the clear.
