Is the Hawk X 250 worth the price over the standard Hawk 250?

My heart kind of lies on the Templar X 250 but at minimum I'm seeing it about $600 additional for a shipped price over a Hawk 250, and with that money I could add a lot of farkles.

I'm seeing the Hawk 250 for around $1600 shipped but the Hawk X 250 for about $1700 shipped.

Is the extra $100 worth essentially a counterbalanced engine? What's the consensus now a days on this? Besides that and the different tooth front sprocket is there any other updates?

for $100 I'd get the counterbalanced engine any day of the week

Yeah I'll probably do it just for that and the front sprocket. I'm not sure if there's any other updates to it.

I love my Hawk, but spend the extra $600 and get the Templar X. The forks alone are worth it, but you find a lot of the stuff you have to buy for the Hawk already on the Templar X. It's worth it.

I'm not entirely opposed but I'm seeing $1600-1650 shipped for a Hawk, and $2300 shipped for a Templar X

Huge difference I'm not sure I can swing

The Hawk X has other small changes to upgrade it over the standard. Stock Sprockets should be 17 front and 45 or 46 rear,

The Templar makes more sense if you want a good off road bike. The Hawk is still capable of trail riding, but definitely not the rougher stuff. The Hawks do make better road bikes.

NGL I didn't know there was a difference - like the Hawk X is an upgrade? It's pretty bare bones! Are you looking for a street legal dirt bike? Because I was steered to the RPS Hawk X 250 because its a street legal dirt bike that I could register and legally ride on the street. So you might verify that the "Hawk 250" has all the lights and a horn to make it street legal.

The Templar not only looks better, but weighs less too, if I believe that correctly.
Also the Templar has 6 gears and counterbalanced engine (good for highways), while the hawk x only has 5 gears?

Not that it matters, as you can easily upgear the hawk to get the same final gear ratio.

I believe the templar is EFI, and not sure about the hawk x, but the standard hawk is carburetor. EFI is good when running stock. Carburetor is good when adding performance parts.
I feel the performance parts and community on dual purpose/enduros is smaller than for bikes like the Grom and clones.

For these bikes, I feel more people leave them stock.

One thing I'd look into is the difference between the og hawk and the x, if the engine has EFI, and if it's a genuine 249cc, or the lower performing 220 something cc?

Templars are carbureted, NOT EFI.
Check the jetting info in the Templar Resource guide.

EFI does have hands off advantage, but keep in mind that any problems with EFI are yours. No dealer support.

When it works, it can be quirky, typically lean running, some people experience stalling, and we do have forum members here with EFI issues.

I hear ya. That's also the main reason I went with the Hawk; I could swing it. Getting the Templar meant I would have to save for a bit. Who has the patience for that?!
