TBR 7 Help

So was out riding the tbr 7 tonight. Came to a stop and was holding the front brake and noticed my cluster lights went out, fuel gauge dropped, no shift indicator everything lost power. Release brake everything is back on. Rode it home, shut it off. Went to fire back up no power for electric start or any lights etc. Kick started fine and everything lit up once i kick started it. Im assuming the new battery is toast?? Thats gonna be my first check tommorow with a voltage meter. Any other suggestions or situations i should be aware of?

Check to see if the battery cables are tight.
