Rear master cylinder on Gio x31

Hi guys! I think that my rear master cylinder gave up on me, anyone know if I can buy a rebuild kit for those? Or buy a aftermarket model maybe?

I think the entire setup (master, hose and caliper) is cheap and plentiful on eBay. Use a generic search term, like "dirt bike brake".

I don't know what you have now, but measure the brake hose length and ask the seller for a measurement as well. Otherwise, does it look the same to you

just a quick add on tip here. The master AND caliper are the SAME between the Gio X31 AND 125cc bike. I just done brakes on both my buddies 125 and my 250. The brake pads, calipers and masters are teh same. Just a different length brake hose.

BUT, if you remove the hose from the master, save the copper washers and simply replace the master and reuse your banjo bolt and washers, you are in good shape.

Before you reuse your washers, heat them with a propane torch. Not a whole lot, just enough to make them turn a touch purple (not glowing) and use pliers to stick them in, you will NEVER have a leak from them.

I wouldn't do this to a car or truck, but on a bike, you don't have a lot to worry about should it leak a tiny bit. But if done right, you will have no leaks.

Those washers for the banjo fittings have a rubber washer built into them.
Not sure if heating them up is a real good idea.
Your best bet IMO is when removing the fitting just leave both washers on the bolt, less chance of damaging the rubber if you dont take them off the bolt.

No problem at all. That's what we are all here for...help each other out.

I wonder if the copper washers have O rings or just rubber seals. I have a box of O rings of all kinda of sizes here should mine ever go.

I also found that despite me using my front brakes more, the rear ones wore out faster...which makes me wonder if the bikes came with a softer rear compound to make the brakes bite in more.

I will find out for sure as I use my brakes this summer.

No the seals are actually part of the washer.

A thin flat rubber washer on each side may work though. Say made from a tire tube or similar thin rubber.
