Need Mic carburetor info
Does anybody know about MIC carbs? A little Google searching indicates that they're Mikuni carbs, but I'm not sure. I have a MIC carb on the '77 TS185, and I can't find specs anywhere that tell me the float height; not even the Clymer Suzuki 125-400 Singles repair manual (M369).
How do I identify it? There is no designation on the carb, aside from what looks to be a date code.

I can't help much Weld but I can say those are the same carbs that are on my 1978 GS750. I rebuilt them a month or so ago with Mikuni kits. I always assumed they were Mikunis with a different logo? Kinda like Nikon, Nikkor, Nikkormat cameras of old...

I'm sorry I can't help you, Weld. :? My Zong has a Teikei carburetor, the same carb employed by the Yamaha TW200. However, I can tell you the Teikei carburetor is frequently advertised by Yamaha as a Mikuni carb.

I did not touch the float height. I only changed the jets and seals and gaskets.

Do you have a service manual that indicates float height?

From my book for my bike:
Remove carb and turn upside down. Remove float bowl and gasket. Using calipers measure float level between float chamber surface and top of float. Bend tang is necessary. The height varies depending on the model. Non CV carbs should be 25-26mm CV carbs 22.5mm. Hope this helps. Interesting in some of the pics in my book the carbs say MIKUNI and in other pics the say MIC. Seems to be interchangeable. Like FMC and Ford Motor Company. Maybe its Mikuni International Carburettor or something like that...

I had the same thought about MIC vs. Mikuni.
I figured that the float level would be about 1"; thanks for clarifying. I looked up the fiche for your 750, and the carbs look very similar to mine, all of which are not CV.

Is there any reference to the carb model in your book? If not, do you have an owner's manual with such info? I'd really like to learn the actual carb model.
