I believe the Canadian ones do (or might), but not in the US from what people have reported the last couple of years here.

Well, I tried to resist....but I can't!

Why in the world would anyone want (or put) a remote start or car alarm on these bikes? 8O :?

It's not a Lincoln Navigator, it's a freakin $1500 China bike.

I know our friends to the north have to pay more, and it's reasonable to expect more....but remote start and a car alarm?
Is that like standard equipment up there?

I could mod my bike for 15 years and never get to the point of wanting that stuff.

Edit: I guess I should add...I'm not trying to start trouble, I'm just trying to understand the appeal of those items on this peticular machine.

Different strokes or different folks.I once worked with a guy who had a total junker of a pickup and had an alarm that was worth probably twice as much as the truck.

I'm okay with that. I was thinking the same way at first, but then considered...if they are actually coming from the factory like that for all Canadians, then maybe there's more to it than personal preference. Or, maybe not.

I'm trying to understand the basics....like the remote start, for example. Do they leave the fuel on, or do they start it up then run out and turn on the fuel before it burns what is in the line?

And the choke? Is it electric?

I'm not too familiar with how they work on cars, as I've never had or installed one, but I know they can work around the key switch. But how does one work around a manual choke and a fuel petcock? 8O

I am not positive as to all or any Canadian bikes coming with the remote start/alarms (hence my "might"), but I remember someone from Canada buying his bike with this feature (I don't think he was looking for it--it just happened that way ). I just wish one of our neighbors to the north can clarify this!

I turn the gas off whenever I park it.

Never really seen the need for a remote start on a bike, but the alarm I can see.

I have a starter disable on the Road King. And one of the neighbor kids has a fourwheeler with remote start and kill. But it only has a manual choke.

Yea, sorry about that...I guess my post does imply an assumption of all their bikes having those, and to be fair, the OP didn't even say he wanted them, only asking if they are factory installed.

The start disable I fully understand...and the alarm, to some extent. That remote start is still a little puzzling.

I always shut of my fuel as well. I've heard stories of full tanks draining into the floor because someone left the fuel on and something happened to the line or whatever. Much safer, especially when parking indoors.

Would there be any upgrade to the charging system to help deal with the power drain? And that's where the alarm gets me. It seems to leave it on you'd need to be plugged in and charging often....but if you're near a plug, you're probably inside or at least near your home.

Anyways...just thinking out loud, I guess. Thanks for the effort to explain it to me.

When buying a bike in China, the "generic" alarm w/remote start are "gift" (Street price: generic ~$7.2 / Name brand (metal button) ~$17.2) bundled by dealer.

Personally I think the idea of a remote start is worthless. I usually leave my
bike in first gear when parked. Think about trying to start a bike in gear, I
would bet it would be the last time anyone tries that.

I did have a remote start installed on my truck and will do the same for
every vehicle I own from now on. In Ohio it is really awesome to get into
a vehicle that is warm in the dead of winter.

As for the alarm. I think it might be good, but I could care less. If they want
to steal it an alarm won't stop them. My opinion of course.

OK, new member bubbazenneti just introduced himself on this thread, and bought a GY-2 in Canada with the remote/alarm already installed.

http://chinariders.net/modules.php?n...ewtopic&t=4057

It is a CANADIAN model with the alarm and remote start .

Not sure if all of them come with them, but seems like this answered the question for the most part.

I always leave the gas on, never had an issue with doing it in 12 years of riding both on my streetbikes or my dirtbikes. It must have an override where it won't hit the starter if its in gear. I had a few standard cars with car starters to be honest I did not use it much, it was more of a show off thing or I guess in the winter its useful. I remember once I parked it and left it in gear like I usually do because I don't use the automatic start often then a girl that was waiting inside my car was playing with my keys and hit the button and the car drove threw a fence. When I came back she said she had no idea what happened she denied touching the keys.. I found out later on she did and she was just scared.

And you may never have a problem in another 50 years of owning bikes....but IMO, it's not worth the risk. Not only for the price of gas these days, but the danger of spilling gallons of fuel into the floor of my garage (under the bedrooms!). Not when it only takes 2 seconds to turn it off, and another couple of seconds to turn it back on.

I have persoanlly never had an issue either, and I reduce my chances by keeping my fuel turned off.

It (alarm/RS) does make sense as a dealer option. Another bell/whistle to close the sale...and perhaps it's something they keep in stock for larger, more expensive bikes with electric choke and whatnot.

Thanks again for the info. Maybe I'll ask the new member to go into more detail as to how his works...choke/fuel wise.
