something i need clarification on (battery)

i read somewhere that these bikes are shipped with an unfilled leadacid battery? is that true?

it said something about taking it to a dealer to have it filled? i asked my old man about this, he was like "thats how they did things back in the day, but i wouldnt even know where to get a battery filled nowadays.."

so whats the situation on this?

I know when I received my bike, it came with acid ready to install. If yours doesn't, most auto parts stores carry it as well.

Here is the process that came with my 06 Lifan 200-GY... TMS Motorsports..
Battery comes in a cardboard box in the crate with the bike and it is a dry charged battery, what you have to do is add the electrolyte, not a hard process... You get a battery with 6 openings at the top (just like any other moto battery) It comes with a seperate electrolyte cell, split into 6 containers, all connected into one unit though.. You take off the black plastic cap on the fluid(do not throw out as this is your battery cover) Strip off the foil and invert and press into the battery, they do line up.. The instructions tell you to wait 20 mins. to let the electrolyte seep into the battery but as i have found, the instructions are crap, let what flows into the battery flow and give the electrolyte a squeeze several times to get the rest in there, just keep it connected, it will take all of it... I hooked mine up to a charger and it was charged in 30 mins. Maybe different on other bikes but I thought that was a pretty cool way to ship a battery and I don't think I needed to charge it but I'm American.. Hope that answers your question...

you need to charge it, and don't pull of the aluminum foil strip. the foil will break when you place the acid container onto battery and press down to break the seal.

Bought my bike through TMS too, just got it off E-bay, better price.. I am having MCO issues though, nothing that can't be corrected, MCO came taped to the seat and was never filled out.. Got a temp tag for now and am in the process of gettin' er done, still a pain in the ass though...

As with most of the rest,....mine came with batt dry, and acid container included....was just a case of filling the batt,.....and a trickle charge.

The acid if needed can be bought bulk in a small container from most auto supply stores [NAPA,..etc.]

Same with mine. Came dry, filled with acid, 30 minutes on charger, good to go!

On an unrelated note, if your bike dont start easy, check the plug gap, mine was like 1/3 of what it should have been... You might still have to move the carb needle too.

My Diamo came with a maintenance free battery. Has never exhibited a low charge. 8 months old. I am curious if it is of gell type for there are no filler caps. This is interesting to me because I,ve toyed with the idea of moving it from the side of the bike to under seat and I could mount it in any orientation.
