HAWK Tires (Mainly Front)

Hey guys I am looking to get a new front tire for my hawk 250 because all that street riding is starting to wear the nubbies out and its getting pretty smooth.

I'm looking to get a more Enduro, half Street/half off road, for the front tire, and keep the back tire with the nubbies.

I really only need a front tire but also I could probably use a new front rim as well (rim is not entirely necessary mainly looking for a tire)

So does anybody know of a good brand of tires that would fit the rim that won't have me breaking the bank, but also not too cheap and Junkie?

Or has anyone tried any out that work great with the hawk, or even a new whole front wheel assembly?

Any of which have a nice enduro tire so i can keep going off road, but also wont take as much wear when I hit the streets.

There are lots of brands that meet your stated needs. None of them is as good in mud as what came on the bike. Dennis Kirk has a good selection, and so do several other big online motorcycle stores. Kenda has some useful tires, in the low priced range. There are other brands as well. These sites have pictures of the tread on the tire, makes choosing a bunch easier...ARH

I'm using a Pirelli 90/90/18 MT on the front, I would say it is 50%-50%, I can lean it on pavement without issues although it look more off road than on road.

I'm using a Shinko 244 on my TT250. Absolutely love it. 50/50.

Hey thanks man im looking at both those sites right now.

Could you provide me with some info about the size i need the hawks front is 80/100 21.

I assume the 21 is the rim size. do i need a tire that is 80/100 21 or do i just need to worry about the 21 number?

What came stock on the TT? The Brozz tires leave much to be desired.

Really??? Admittedly I'm not a tire connoisseur, but Ive liked the Brozz tires. On-road that is. In mud/loose dirt they suck. But, educate me if I'm being naive. I assumed these were kinda 80/20 tires.

An 80 or 90/100, both ought to work...ARH

The Shinko 244 and Kenda K270 are pretty much the same when it comes to the tire profile. I order most things from Rocky Mountain but they don't have that picture.

I've been running Shinko 244's on my TT 250 for the last several months and now that they're about worn out I've got a set of Shinko 705's that I'm going to mount up. They are an 80/20 tire and I decided to try these since the majority of my riding is on the road. The 244's handle surprisingly well on the street. Shinko classifies them as a 70/30 tire but the few times that I've taken them off road they've performed very well even in the soft sand that I was riding in. I got both sets of Shinkos from http://www.americanmototire.com/cata...?cPath=200_921

The tires on the TT looked to me to be a copy of the old Goodyear design. I had an '79 XL 250S and the rear Goodyear was an exact match for the stock rear on the TT. The tires that came stock on the TT were decent and did the job off road but they did get a bit squirrely when pushed hard on pavement. The Shinko 244 handles much better on the pavement while giving good off road performance as well.

The Bridgestone Claw-Action tire is still good after all of the years. Before that if you bought a dual-purpose or dual sport bike you got trials tires. Honda was the first one to give people descent tires on a stock bike.

How many miles did you manage to get out of those 244s? I was contemplating switching to a set of those as well. Honestly, if I can get a set of tires to last 1 season of riding I am usually happy, especially budget brands.
