Photos?

These engines are not very receptive to modifications; the exceptions being the carb can usually be upgraded to a ebay bought Mikuni which member/moderator Weldandgrind will post a link. The advantage of the Mikuni over the more-often-used-on-Chinese bikes? You can purchase and play with the jets from mainstream bike shops even if the carb is not a Japanese Mikuni vs. the more common carbs these bikes come with (which are very good stock, but you can't play with them).

Other mods include the air filter (or the former owner might have already changed it out which necessitate changing out the stock carb for the Ebay Mikuni due to jetting) and countersprocket and rear sprockets. Exhaust is not such a direct mod (most who have played with theirs modified aftermarket pipes or modded out which, again, would have necessitated changing to the Ebay Mikuni).

I think that is an overhead valve engine; I don't see a cam chain tensioner.

Nope, that's an OHC, otherwise known as a CB250.

I defer; you are the expert on these engines. Where is the cam chain tensioner?

Just above the starter. It is unlike the Yamaha style.

Not an expert; just willing to help.

Thanks for the tip; I see it now. Is it an automatic, or manual, cam chain tensioner? It appears to be difficult to access.

It's automatic, and you need to remove the starter to access it. Not that big of a deal.

Automatic instead of manual is good. Having to remove the starter motor to access the tensioner is not so good.
