Fabricated exhaust for Brozz 250 ???

As I have stated in the past, I like the fact that my Brozz is quite with it's stock exhaust, but I realize that the quietness is bought at the expenses of ,power robbing, heat generating, and less efficiency, so I have been thinking about modding my bike a little at a time. I am already waiting on a couple of sprockets, and now I am thinking exhaust. I would like to keep my stock exhaust in original condition ,in case I need to put it on for state inspection. I gather that if I were to order an exhaust, I would order for a Honda CRF 150. Is this correct? I was wanting to ask what ,what would be wrong about having a muffler shop make a straight pipe exhaust for one of these bikes? Another question is if I did decide to just ditch the catalytic converter on my stock exhaust, would that accomplish enough de-restriction , that any further exhaust mods would be unnecessary ?

This is the most common option most go with:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Others have cut the stock exhaust, gutted the cat and re-welded.. between the two im not sure whether there would be a performance winner or they'd be the same.. but both will be viable options

I used this site for guidance with the Stonemen exhaust install, although i didnt need to attach an extension piece in the end and got it fitted well.. i did have to notch out one side of the header flange which is probably easier than drilling the holes bigger

I just watched a video of a guy gutting the cat on a Bashan Storm, and I was surprised at how much blockage it was . I looked at the StoneMan exhaust link you posted. It looks like it has a cat as well, or is that just the way it's made ? They claim a gaurentee of a big gain in HP. Do you think this would actually add a couple HP to a Brozz ?

I think thats how its made, if it has a cat its definitely nothing like stock.. one reviewer of the exhaust stated "Around a 3hp boost. No cat or spark arrestor/baffle so it is considerably louder."

Yes, i saw a nice increase in power by this alone... as others have posted, exhaust will be your biggest bang for the buck power gain.. the ad says 2-5 HP Increase, id guess its probably 2 hp alone (13% gain over stock) but when you mate it with air filter/pod, porting the head, carb jetting to take advantage of the changes, then its probably closer to 5hp (33% over stock).. all subjective ofcourse as i dont believe anyone has ever done before/after dyno work..
I was told by Joe H that the port/polish work i had done would increase power by 4hp but that again is probably when mated with other add-ons and not cumulative

What kind of results would I be able to expect if I were to either gut, or replace the cat with a length of new pipe, and then replace the stock muffler with on from Amazon .They seem to have a good assortment from $25- $35 bucks. I don't ask this purely from being tight, but I think I would end up with a better fitting exhaust.

That’s a great idea. I was planning on calling Jeff on Monday to order some missing bolts from my Recon build. I’ll ask about the header and report back.

Figured as much, maybe he can just mark each one with dotted lines "cut here"

Curious, looking at adding a low restricted exhaust and filter, and what people recommend for jetting? I'm < 500feet above sea level. Recommendations?

This is the one that a lot of people favor, but you can just search for Honda CRF 150/230 F exhaust. On some you may have to drill the holes out on the flange collar that attaches to the head studs, prying, and trouble with clearance around the stock airbox, and clutch lever on the engine case are issues that some have ran into on the aftermarket exhaust. I went with an aftermarket exhaust on my TBR7, and had no clearance issues at all, and I didn't have to drill my flange. The only issue I had was pulling the muffler up into place, which I easily did with the aid of a long narrow U bolt that I saddled around the frame ,right above the tank for the rear brake fluid and then pulled the rear section of pipe into place, and pulled it, and the muffler into position. I then removed the UBolt, . I cut the cat out of my Hawk, and removed the baffle from the muffler, and it did allow it to breath better, and along with the pod filter, it requires a 115 main, but it just doesn't sound great. I de catted my Brozz, and it sounded almost the same as before. The Brozz's cat probably wasn't as restricted as the Hawk's because it had far greater diameter. I eventually cut a large circle out of the rear of the muffler, and when I did it allowed me to pull the little pipe that ran plumb through the muffler out, and when I did , it got really loud, and a great sound. I eventually made a couple baffled for it. If I ever had another Brozz, I would still go a similar route, but would probably cut a smaller hole into the rear of the muffler, and weld about a 1.5" adapter in place. On my Brozz, I went with about a 2", or a hair bigger, I really can't remember. , But I would say that the Brozz muffler is possibly more restricted than the cat, because it's cat could obviously flow at least twice as much as the ones like on the Hawk ,which ain't much bigger around than the pipe.
