New XP200 owner needs help.

First, thanks to all the contributors and the information that you share with everyone. I really appreciate having a knowledge base to tap into.

I just purchased a 2008 Qlink XP200 with 548 miles on it. It has been in storage for several years (with fluids and battery removed). Fluids and battery were added and it fired right up.
Anyway, the bike was parked in front of a window which did some serious UV damage to the coating on the front brake line and now the clear coating will just crumble in your hand.
So, I need a new brake line and QLink doesn't list one for sale on their parts website. I can order generic ones from eBay that are the correct length, but the banjo fittings are different. The stock one has a 90 elbow on the master cylinder side and a long "J" fitting on the caliper end.

I found one complete setup on AliExpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/free...816203638.html) for $98.58 but that is waayyyyy more than I want to pay.

Does anyone have any idea where I could find the correct brake line.

Grin Welcome to the Forum

Should only cost you $5 to $15 to replace that brake line...

Things to look for on Aliexpress or Banggood websites are "Reinforced" or "Stainless" or "Braided" Brake Line or Brake Hose

Make sure to take measurements before you order anything, I don't remember off the top of my head if 10mm is the correct "banjo bolt" size and I have no clue about the length you will need

The links provided by Azhule are going to be the most pocket friendly route to go.

If you are wanting to spend a bit more than companies like Spiegler, Venhill, and Coremoto all offer "Custom" line options on their websites where you can spec the fitting types, angles, and line length, as well as color choices. These will all be extremely high quality UV resistant coated lines that will last a very long time.

They aren't as cheap as the ones linked, but generally a custom line through these companies will run between $45-70.

The setup you linked is so expensive because it is a master cylinder, line, and caliper. Now, if you needed all of those parts, then it would likely be a bit cheaper than buying them individually.

You can try letting the Google be your guide, and look for a hydraulic hose and cylinder repair shop near you. They'll be able to sell you a length of tubing that is rated for way more than the brake system needs, and they'll even remove the old tubing and crimp the new tubing on for you. You'll be re-using your existing fittings, so you'll want to make sure that they're in good shape and up to the task, but generally that's the best way to go. Let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks for info on how to search. I had been on their site but was looking for specific items for the XR200. The second link may be just what I need as I know the length I need and some offer the option of different fittings.

Thanks Megadan, I appreciate the info. Custom may be the way I have to go to get what I need. At least its half the price of the link I provided and I don't end up with multiple parts I don't need.

The Qlink is an outstanding bike and many of the parts are shared with the updated XF250.
Is the braided brake line still good? The clear plastic tube is there to shield the line from the movement of the front forks, so if the line is still intact maybe you can find a new way to shield the line; electrical sheathing?

1+ on this Humanbeing. Taobao is going to be the best route for this bike. I just got a new clutch cable for an XF and it ran me under $1.00 on Taobao. Shipping is a little pricey so I always order some extras and it makes it worthwhile. (I have extra brake pads and sprockets galore). Go this route and have an extra brake caliper and brake lever handy.

One tip, if you do chat or message a broker for assistance on Taobao do NOT bother mentioning your bike is a QLINK or SSR; these are labels the US importers used and not relevant. The XF bikes in China are in fact not even XF's, but XP's. So the legit make/model of your bike when shopping on the Chinese sites should be (Shandong Pioneer or Qingqi)QM200GY.

Chinese Motorcycle Parts online wanted 49 UK Pounds for a clutch cable by the way... I don't even bother checking with SSR anymore. If you call them for a new spark plug they might tell you they only sell complete engines.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The stainless braiding is perfectly fine, it's just the clear plastic outer coating that is crumbling away.
Electrical sheathing might be a viable alternative. I had also considered applying shrink wrap tubing over the entire length.

Glad to hear the line is good. The most important part I think is going to be protecting the line where it clips into those nice carbon fiber front fork guards as well as keeping it out of any other pinch points around the headlight fairing. I imagine those areas got a little shielding from the sunlight and might be ok?

Heat shrink may be a good option too if it helps keep the line clear of the fork.

The condition of the inside rubber of the line is of more concern than the exterior. In my experience, a bike that has sat for several years almost always needs new lines. The biggest downside to braided lines is that you can't see the condition of the rubber, and even with the braiding that rubber can still split and fail, just not as easily. You can probably get by for now with some type of shrink tube to protect the braiding, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to replace them eventually.

Any pic?
I don't recall any '08 Qlink XR from memory. 17" XF / 21" XP are from Qingqi http://www.chinariders.net/showpost....40&postcount=9 http://www.motorfans.com.cn/forum.ph...uthorid=183268 Chinese often calls them as 狗三 (Dog Ⅲ) https://web.archive.org/web/20070705...0625224437.htm| older X-ranger https://www.pdf-archive.com/2014/10/04/q-link-zongshen/ = Zongshen Sierra

Sorry about that. It should read "XP" 200. I will correct it immediately!

Registration says QLink XP200 2008.

VIN# starts with LAE.

According to the VIN link provided by humanbeing, the bike was manufactured by QINGQI GROUP MOTORCYCLE CO. LTD.
