hibird 200cc dual sport

Hi all, been researching my latest find, 06 hibird 200cc dual sport on the net, kept finding posts from" China riders " so hear I am... another newbie.
Got this bike off of CL as a package deal with a four wheeler, looks like a lifan engine in it minus the lifan name far as I can tell.. well so far I've probably spent 4 hours reading posts. a lot of great info!
if ya all have any tips or tricks to improve performance or exhaust sound I'd love to hear them. Right now she's a stock bike with under a1000 miles on her. engine clatter was a bit much at first but after a tank of fresh gas it's not bad at all any more. previous owner had mixed gas in it. not sure why... it's a four stroke.. push rod engine. he also said it smoked and had to be choked cause it wad really cold blooded... after the tank of gas ran threw it she starts and runs with out the choke.. well that's all for now.

Welcome. I am sure the 2 stroke gas didn't help any.

Agreed... The oil in the mix would displace the proper amount of gas for the jetting, and cause it to run lean... Hence why it only ran on choke....

thanks all for the quick response! I'll try to post some pics as I figure everything out. quick question for you guys... I've got about 15 miles from home to work, speed limit of 55mph, shouldn't have any issues in theory running it that far at speed? Or should I start looking for different sproket set ups first?

I think you would be ok, BUT you may want to get a 44t rear, so you can have a bit of get away speed in traffic...55is about the limit with the stock 56t rear...

bogieboy..I listened to your exhaust, not bad, but I'd like something a bit more deep if possible, I noticed it sounded like your bike had a cough when you revved it up and let off. mine does the same thing when it's hot. say you rev it a few times and a little cough from the exhaust.. what gives? any clues. my bike looks similar to your but the plastics are nt as dirty bike looking, it's licensed as a "wildfire" on the title.
I had an old 200x Honda that I put a pipe on and it sounded like a darn Harley..I just got to find the right pipe.

It makes that coughing noise because it's lean. Fattening the mixture by two jet sizes on the slow and main jets should cure it.

Check out SpudRider's posts on his FMF universal muffler. I trust his word when he says the muffler has a good sound. http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=5974
