Battery Elimination

Having taken my Orion out of the crate only to find a dead battery that won't hold a charge, I have to ask this question so be kind please.

Has anyone eliminated the battery and electric start switch altogether and just relied on the kick starter exclusively? I use my RXB125X to trail ride and there are no lights on the bike, and it isn't used on the roadway.

Just thinking out loud here.

No warranty at all, just out of the crate??

If it is shorted, it will burn up wire(s) and possibly damage the reg/rec and possibly even the stator. I'd get a cheap battery just so it doesn't fry the bike. You can still rely on the kick start.

On some bikes the stator doesn't provide constant voltage which may cause the headlights to flicker.

You can avoid this by either leaving the dead battery connected, or replace it with a capacitor. Like one of those 0.5Farad caps sold for car audio systems.

I personally wouldn't rely on the starter, as some bikes had their starter chain destroyed due to it not being oiled or greased from the factory.
