Riding the Rhino to the mailbox this morning when the engine just died while at idle. Good spark, fuel, but no compression. Pulled the carb, squirted in some WD40, and blasted it with compressed air. Compression returned and it started up no problem.

Problem was a flake of carbon stuck under the intake valve. This happened once on the ATA250D so I knew what to look for. I thought the previous owner of the ATA 250 probably carboned it up by running it with the choke on or something but that was not the case with the Rhino.

If your CG engine ever suddenly looses compression, try blowing compressed air and WD40 or similar into the intake while cranking the engine. That will usually dislodge a flake of carbon on the intake valve.
