The old carb cap and the new carb cap. They must both have the same type of rubber boot. Either a straight short nipple or a longer elbow bent nipple. If not the same this throws off how the carb slide and throttle work together. There is a name for each type of application but the names are escaping me at the moment.
Your throttle cable will either be too long or too short depending on which way you criss cross the different boots.
