Yes, that varnish on the wrist pin definatley indicates either filthy oil run so long as to have lost its lubricating facility, or oil level so low that the oil got cooked. These engines run very little oil in the crankcase and air-cooled engines are at least 40% oil cooled, so it is essential to keep the oil level right up to the full mark. I have seen lawnmower engines like this before where the owner didn't clean the grass clippings/mouse nests out of the fins and/or ran the oil too long/too low...ARH
