I'm from Wollongong just south from Sydney Aus.
A few years ago I built this little hybrid for vintage endurance, using a 78 PE 175 frame with an XR 200 motor.
Since finding this site I plan to upgrade the motor to a 250 CB motor, apparently they use the same engine mount layout as the XR motor.
I've also read you can liven the CB motor up by changing the carb to a 30mm PKW and using a 4° offset magneto key.
Am I correct with these mods ?, any input greatly appreciated.
Thanks Mark
That's a nice clean build. Lost weight from 2 stroke oil injection system offset with 4 stroke head gear! I don't know where you found that tank but it fits beautifully.

The CB250F (zongshen 172-FMM, 249cc, 20 hp) would be a feasible upgrade but you already have an ancestral engine in that frame. If it is an old engine with a played out top end/bottom end, and loose transmission, then it might worth the effort. I see you have adapted an upper engine mount already. I am not sure about the exact placement of the lower mounting bolts, and there could be slight output sprocket alignment to deal with. If so, this could be dealt with using shims on the mounting brackets.

I think you were suggesting the upgrades for the CB250, not the XR200, but the performance mods would liven up the 200 as well if it's in good shape.

Either way, you clearly seem to have the fabrication skills needed.

Welcome to the site
