I have not seen anyone post here who owns one. The poor reviews could be actual factual shortcomings, or ignorant people who don't know much about motorcycle mechanical things posting naïve things.

I personally, however, based on the fact that I have not seen anyone state they own one here on chinariders.net or mychinamoto.com, would rather look at more traditional scooters. Tao Tao are about the perfect standard of quality and price (taking the 'Chinese' into account and knowing there will be hands on maintenance and repairs needed occasionally and fixed with help from youtube videos) where I would start looking.
