Bypass the starter button by jumping the two heavy wires at the solenoid. This will help troubleshoot the issue. To find the starter solenoid, follow the heavy wire from the starter back to the solenoid. There should be another heavy wire coming from the solenoid back to the battery. The starter relay (solenoid) connects these two wires when you push the starter button.

So turn the ignition on and jump these two at the solenoid directly. The engine should turn over vigorously.

How many volts are you getting at the battery (key turned off). It should be 13.5 Volts resting if fully charged. If it is a new motorcycle, it still may need a charge. 12 Volts at the battery resting is low.
