Now I understand.
You need to remove a crankcase cover to replace the
stator, not the regulator/rectifier. On my bikes I can replace the stator by removing the left crankcase cover. However, because of the longitudinal orientation of the CX500 engine, the engine must be dropped, and a rear crankcase cover must be removed.
