As I recall, the shock has a bushing on the top mounting. Your oil might only be a temporary fix if that bushing is dry and the squeak was from the shock rotating on the bolt itself. A better solution is to remove that bolt and give it a good coating of grease before you reinstall it. Of course the best solution is to remove the shock from the bike and grease both bushings. It sounds like your shop just greased the linkage.
