I'm sure the CB300F would handle gravel roads and easy fire roads far better than the much heavier VStrom. However, the VStrom would cruise the interstate highways much faster and more comfortably.

In my opinion, the ultimate adventure bikes are the Kawasaki KLR650, Suzuki DR650, and my own Honda XR650L. However, when the 'adventure' is limited to maintained gravel roads, et cetera, the Honda CB500X does a good job, as shown in the following post. This rider took his CB500X from Florida to Alaska, and had a good time.

I'm sure the Honda CBR300F would have done as well on that trip, and similar trips touring the United States and Canada on maintained roads off the interstate highways. The CRB300F can also safely ride the interstate highways for short periods of time, but I wouldn't want to do it all day long.
