That's true; I forgot to ask how many miles are recorded on the odometer.

Has the engine lost power, or is the engine burning oil? If neither case is true, I would hone the cylinder, clean the piston, and install new piston rings and new gaskets.

However, I would still clean the inside of the cylinder head, lap the valves, and purchase new valve stem seals.
