Half inch total (2.25 to 2.75)...but again, to me it was more about trying to make the front brake work better (did it help? I'm not sure) and also, just the appearance. I think they do look very cool and the shorter, fatter levers feel good to the hand. I can really tell the difference where the adjusters set...but again, I have large-ish hands.

Sounds like just some shorter levers would do you just fine for what you're looking for.
