Started doing my upgrades. A few little observations along the way.
I went ahead and did the airbox mod, but I accidentally took it a step further and broke off the center divider with my furious strength. I went ahead and installed the k&n filter, but I doubt there will be any increase in flow over the stock unit. I will try out both and see if the bike behaves any differently. After 700 miles of unkind riding, I was also pleasantly surprised to find that I had only a couple drops worth of oil in the airbox. So itssafe to say I have well seated rings. I plan on putting a pcv in the breather line while I have it all apart and open.
I am going to do a test fit of the oko carb with the boot I got to see if it will actually fit since the mounting angle is a bit different. For now I want to run the Mikuni just to kind of get a side by side comparison.
Exhaust. Yep, that stock one is heavy. I also found the weld obstruction at the header inlet I have seen mentioned before. (Pic). I also noticed that my muffler sounded like a moracca... So I gave the header a bit of a shake.and the cat did the same thing. Looks like the catalyst was starting to fall apart on me. So I may not have gotten an accurate stock dyno anyway.
