In my youth I shoveled tons of wet, heavy snow in Pennsylvania.
Fortunately, the Idaho skies drop a dry, powdery snow.

If possible, attempt to sweep/shovel the snow off your awning, AZ. Even if you don't get all the snow off the awning, you can still lighten the load considerably.
