28" short shovel with a D handle. Contractors stole my old one more than a decade ago while doing some cement work at the old house, and I just need one of these now and then.

Naturally, it doesn't have the steel and wood handle. Instead, it has a cheap plastic handle that isn't tight on the wood stem-moves. I am sure it won't last. And the spade is angled too much, narrow foot tabs, and thinner 16 gauge steel.
I bought my old one about 30 years ago to dig under a sidewalk section to level it. It had nice straight throw action. I might take this one back and keep looking. I am sure that I can find a better one, for at least twice the price
Edit: scratch that. I will live with it. All of the short shovels I find have the new plastic D handle, with exception of a few high end shovels
that cost over $100, even over $200
