CDI not triggering? It needs to be running to get AC voltage from the stator, right?

I went through the CDI testing, replacement in one of my Templar threads or the resource thread. I got a variable advance CDI unit and posted a video in the thread. They switched from DC to AC type (or vice versa) when they switched to the 6speed engine. I verified it before ordering the variable adv CDI A replacement CDI unit directly from PSM is maybe $25.

Even that seems unlikely on a low miles Templar. Maybe a short or cut wire buried somewhere in the harness or a bad connector? Bad kill switch? Wires at the coil look OK? Could be the coil itself too (also seems unlikely).
