By far the biggest restriction in any modern airbox is the intake into the airbox. Just drill holes in the airbox cover or bottom (whichever is before the filter).
I used to have a 1990 Subaru Loyale which really struggled at RPMs over 4000. I drilled about 25 holes in the airbox bottom, where the intake was, and it picked up dramatically above 4K. If you look at the square inches of the intake hole, compared to the square inches of the filter medium, it is really obvious where the main problem is.
In the video above, the differences in acceleration are too small to make any significant difference. I'd go with the brands that filtered the best: Purolator and Wix.
