Still haven't had the time to remove the cat, and now im focusing on improving the top end power where power really drops off in 5th. Thinking i'll go with a pwk30 or pe30 carb and advance timing a few degrees to see if that gets me where im happy with the bike before I open the internals for a more agressive cam,hi-comp piston, or maybe even try to find a big bore kit for the cb250.

Removing the cat and rejetting the carb will be an improvement. On the Stock engine a PE28 would be a better match carb. The PE30 will work better with the ported head, cam and high compression piston. I plan on installing a ported head that i done before I got this bike. Instead of the high compression piston I'm going to deck the head and install the single layer head gasket. I have a different cam in mind instead of the Hotcam that I installed on the X22R. To get a better top end you will need to replace the rear sprocket with a 36 tooth if you haven't already.
These engine actually perform better after about 1500 miles.
