Do a resistance test with your ohmmeter. Make sure the point system is isolated from the mounting plate. I can't remember but I think the proper point gap is 0.020". Are you getting any resistance when they are closed? Are the contact points pitted or burnt? Have you ran some sandpaper or an Emory nail file through them? Is power getting to them? Have you tested the coil for continuity through the windings, resistance, and insulation breakdown? And lastly, why haven't you just replaced them and the condenser?!?!

I just had to do all that including the coil on a '68 Sears and Roebuck 5.5hp boat motor, and it was like $15 if I remember correctly.
