There are several different things that can cause this. But let's check the easiest one first. Ignition timing. All you need for this is a timing light. Hook the light to the spark plug wire, point the gun at the hole on the left side crankcase so it flashes on the flywheel/rotor. When it flashes, you should see the TDC line somewhere in the hole. With the timing light flashing you should actually see the F mark or pair of marks line up with the notch in the view window while it is running.
