I have a Tubliss set going on my Hawk, but have yet to install or ride on them.

They are not DOT approved because they haven't gone through the approval process. The main focus on this system is off road. That said, there are many people that have used them on-road without a problem. Most of what you are reading is basically the legal equivalent of "covering their ass" since they haven't gone through the DOT testing.

I did a lot of research on it before deciding to pull the trigger on the purchase. This included finding guys with dual sports that use them on the road, and walked away with the same impressions. They can be used on the road, and will work fine at the speeds our bikes are capable of.

On youtube you can watch a review video from eveRide ADV, and others, that talk about how they perform. There are also a couple other members here that use them, and can offer some advice. One big thing that was passed on to me was the importance of the inner bladder pressure being 100psi or more, and that you need to check it very regularly.

Like with anything else, it has it's pros and cons. If you use your bike off road on a regular basis, then it might be worth the investment. Just be aware that even the Tubliss system has a life span to it. The inner bladder is thankfully cheap to replace at about 20 bucks. The outer rim lock section will also eventually wear out and is a little more expensive to replace, but should last longer than at least a few regular tubes, mitigating the cost of replacement in the long run.
