Went to do a valve adjustment last night, because why not. I have only let the engine run about 3 minutes or so total, but it sounded a little noisey. I pulled the 4 5/16 bolts out of the valve cover and some thing didn't look quite right on the intake rocker.... The lock nut was missing! And the gap was about triple spec. (.05mm)! I started to get really worried.... There is a small nut in the engine somewhere.... Great.... I decided to get a flashlight and look around. To my utter amazement, the lock nut was just inside the timing chain tract on its way to the bottom of the engine!!! It must has literally JUST come off. I couldn't believe it. If I had just run the engine a little longer before, I could have ruined it.
