Well I actually did this Sunday, but I changed the oil at 7750 miles. I also found that I had lost a valve cover bolt on the exhaust cover. Fortunately the other bolt was torqued up tight and the valve cover didn't move. I had a metric bolt the correct length and pitch so I was able to slap the covers back on after I checked the valves. All four were at .08mm right where i left them when I last adjusted them at about 5000 miles. Unfortunately I may have damaged the wire from the fuel gauge when I put the tank back on. The screen was still showing empty when I filled the bike up after the work was finished. I want to burn off most of this tank before I try to remove the tank to check and hopefully fix the issue.
