Sitting on the bike, reach down with a wrench or tool and see how much slack you have in the chain. If it feels tight, add a little more slack and see if the noise goes away.

Could be the chain but I have it within spec.....but not with my fat a$$ sitting on it either ;-). Something to check for sure.
Juanro, I'll have to check into that. Great idea! There is the stock high heat wahsers on the inside of the shield but I was wondering if the bolts may be deadheading into the pipe and not snugging the shield as it should. Sure feels tight though.
