Isn't it? Plus it makes the other gears more responsive. The ONLY drawback I found was open road during break-in. It's impossible to keep up with traffic (or not have someone on your a$$) and keep it around 5000 rpms. I racked up about 150 miles of backroads yesterday so I'm hoping to hit 500 miles soon.

On a side note, I had to go to DMV yesterday, get the bike inspected and get my plate. It was HOT. It hit about 102'+. To make matters worse, every light in Jackson, CA (my closest "big town") was flashing due to major construction. Traffic was seriously backed up. So, instead of center-lining (legal here), I opted to sit there and cook and watch my temp gauge and put the bike through the paces. I'm happy to say the highest it got in almost 15 minutes of sitting in hot traffic was 3 bars. Yeah!

Boy was I happy to get rolling though.
