It was repainted when I got it in San Diego in 1992. It also had a new interior. The rust started when I brought it to Kansas. I'll post a picture of when it looked good. One of these days I'll get out there and start wrenching on it again. I sold off all my other project cars last summer, but couldn't part with the Elky. It's worth more to me, just sitting in the yard, than it would be as money in the bank.
