To be clear, I'm only offering another option. You should use the oil that you wish to use.
All of my bikes and quads drink Rotella 15W40, with the exception of my GY6 quad; it drinks 10W30 syn. My thinking is that since there is no clutch in a GY6, no firction modifiers are needed.
Just thinking out loud here: have you tested the headlight with a battery?
