Excellent idea! Bumpsteer is normally due to a dissimilar length tie rod vs. control arm, but that assumes the angles are similar to begin with.
You can test your mod without riding; just place the front of the quad on a jackstand and remove the shock. Turn the wheel so it points straight ahead, and cycle the wheel up and down by hand. If the wheel doesn't try to turn within the range of the shock, you've won!
