Riding the Royal Enfiel home

I was blessed to pick up the Enfield on Saturday. Monte flew me into Scappoose, Oregon (about 30 miles west of Portland) and the dealer (Ron) picked me up to look at the Enfield.

It was perfect as described so after a long test ride we made a deal.

Ron and Jennifer are Christian and we had a wonderful bond of friendship and trust. We did the deal at their kitchen table with their 6 week old black kitten purring on my lap.

The let me ride 2 of their Boss Hoggs they are selling, if you are interested in those please see my other thread.

After a thorough going over on the Enfield I set off for home.

300 miles is VERY VERY FAR on an 'antique' 500cc Thumper. I had to take the back roads the whole way to stay off the interstate because I am observing the break in speeds and tried to keep it below 60. It took about 8 hours door to door.

I loved every minute.

One screw from the headlight bezel vibrated out, along with a few of my dental fillings I think, but other than that the bike arrived home in perfect condition. Only 65 MPG but I expect that will improve once the motor is broken in.

Today I rode it with Andy about another 100 miles. He rode my RE for the most part and I rode his 1969 Moto Guzzi.

I thought about you guys the whole time. I've been looking forward to sharing with you all.
